The MediaForms Process
Fulfilling and surpassing the expectations of our clients is our most important goal when we develop any system. We work hard to meet this goal and have devised a process to assist us in succeeding. We break the development process into four distinct phases so that you, the client, are better able to monitor our progress and contribute as you see fit.
To facilitate the dialogue on project progress, we produce deliverables, together with an invoice, at the conclusion of each phase. Only once deliverables have been accepted by the client will we continue with the next phase of the development process. And only once deliverables have been accepted will we expect payment.
In the proposal phase we endeavor to demonstrate our understanding of the requirements for the system. We gather information, perform our analysis and then propose a solution.
Deliverable: Formal Proposal
In this phase we create a logical system and offer a roadmap to show how we will proceed. We perform a thorough design analysis so that both our client, and we may be confident that we have fully considered the system in detail. The design document includes our user interface layouts, sketched artwork, detailed scripts and storylines, and systems analysis tools such as data flow diagrams and control flow diagrams.
The objective of the design phase is two-fold. First, to ensure that the planned system meets client expectations and that we all share the same understanding and expectations. Second, to be sure that all the required input and resources for the creation process are available.
Deliverable: Design Document
The creation phase is where the system is actually created. User interface layouts and artwork are completed, multimedia components such as video, sound, pictures and animation are collected and user documentation is written. At the end of this phase we produce a working prototype with a completed 'look and feel' that can be seen and felt. All essential navigation and usage elements are combined in the prototype. If desired by the client, we also produce a finished product for whatever interim multimedia components we have created (video, for example). The objective is to present a working, usable system indicative of how the final system will work.
Deliverable: Prototype, Multimedia components
In the production phase, we: a) customize the system for its delivery medium b) process the remaining elements c) test, test and test some more.
Deliverable: Final system with documentation
